Kingpost Truss Kitchen Roof, Liverpool

Completed

June 2018

Redesign of a kitchen space. Replacing an oppressive plastic clad, minimally insulated, poorly day-lit, softwood framed, concrete tiled kitchen roof.

With three Oak King-post Truss frames and a huge gable window, opening up the space, giving it a sense of height and grandeur and connecting it to the lovely garden. The old kitchen was also cold and sucked heat from the house so we added 150mm of super insulation, topped with clay tiles, taking care to get all the vapour barriers and breather membranes right. The project took a week to make the frames and window in the workshop and a week and a half on site to demolish the old roof and install and finish the new one.
