Crows Nest, Heeley Peoples Park, Sheffield

The Crows Nest is a view point sculpture and meeting place. It has become a community iconic space for meeting, hanging out, date night, exercise and relaxing with the awesome view. Heeley Development Trust who manage the park use its silhouette on their print and T shirts and local artists have made lino cuts, prints and photos of it. The structure is made of Douglas Fir, half lap jointed together at high level and slotted onto steel flitch plates just above ground level. There was an existing concrete pad so we didn’t add any extra foundations.
